The Udzungwa Mountains National Park is located on the western part of the Selous Game Reserve. Udzungwa Mountain forests are home to some of plants that are not found anywhere else in the world. This park has stunningly beautiful scenery and a variety of primates can be found such as the red colobus monkey, sanje mangbey, vervet monkeys, baboons and sykes monkeys.
There are five different trials through the forests offering varying levels of difficulty for amateurs and professionals. Trekking the mountain allows travelers to enjoy the scenery and view the plant and animal life.
3 Days Mikumi National Park and Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
Pick up from DSM city center and you proceed to south of Dar es Salaam, along the Tanzania / Zambia Highway with picnic Lunch Afternoon game drive of Mikumi National Park. Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hills Tented Camp (L,D)
With 3,230 square kilometers coverage Mikumi National Park is well-known park in Tanzania. The park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal. More than 300 species of birds have been recorded here including Eurasian migrants such as red billed ox pecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller.
Day 2: Hiking in Udzungwa Mountain National Park
After breakfast drive to Udzungwa with your picnic lunch. The drive is about 90 kms. Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hills Tented Camp (B,L,D)
The Udzungwa Mountain National Park, which is 1990 sq.kms. Is the first terrestrial National park in Tanzania. It is well known for its biologically diverse forest, with approximately 20 – 30% out of 200 animals and plant species that grow here not found any where in the world. Still it is really beautiful place for hiking. It is one of the top ten forests for bird conservation in Africa.
Wildlife: Variety of animal species can be found here, including water buffalo, elephants, and full of reptiles and snakes and more.
Day 3: Mikumi National Park – Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, morning game drive of the park with picnic lunch, early afternoon drive to DSM (B,L).
